COURSE ADMINISTRATION

Schedule
There will be no class held on March 8. The class will be made up on March 22. Any additional changes to the schedule will be indicated on the class homepage.

GRADING
Your final grade will be based on a mid-term, final exam, and homework assignments. The exams will each be worth 40% and the homework assignments will be worth 20% of your final grade. No extra credit assignments will be given to raise a grade.

EXAMS
The midterm exam will be given on March 22. It will cover the material presented in the first 6 lectures. The final exam will be given on May 10. It will emphasize the material covered after the midterm.

All students are expected to turn in INDIVIDUAL work; no group exams (or homework assignments) are given in this class. Failure to comply with this rule will result in a grade of F on the exam.

If you cannot be present to take an in-class exam (because you are ill or out-of-town on business), with the instructor's permission, you will be allowed to take the exam during the following week. Copies of the exam will be available in the JHU APL office (in the basement of the library building). You must call the office (443-778-6510) and make arrangements for a mutually agreeable time to take the exam. A final exam taken after the last class period will result in an initial grade of incomplete, as the university requires that all grades must be handed in by the instructor within 48 hours of the last class period.

A take-home exam must be handed in by the day and time listed on the exam. You may email (preferred) or fax the exam to me up until the time it is due. There will be no exceptions. An exam sent by email must be in Microsoft Word, PDF or ASCII text format. Late exams and exams that are in a format that is unreadable will not be accepted, and will receive a failing grade.

RETURN OF FINAL EXAM
The final exams can be gotten back by handing me a self-addressed stamped envelope on the day of the final exam, or by mailing it to me at the following address:

MITRE Corporation
7515 Colshire Drive
McLean, VA 22102-7508

HOME PAGE
The web page will be used to distribute homework assignments, homework solutions, and take-home exams (if any); to make changes in the date assignments are due; and to hand out any additional viewgraphs or notes. It is strongly recommended that you check the home page often to get the latest information. You are responsible for getting the up-to-date information. A dated icon will be used to indicate new information.

CLASS ATTENDANCE
If you are unable to attend class (for any reason whatsoever), you are still responsible for the material covered in class. It is your responsibility to get the information you missed. However, all the viewgraphs for each class are available on the home page.

HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENTS
Homework assignments are available online. You will usually have two weeks to do a homework assignment. Homework assignments must be handed in on the date that they are due. If you cannot be present in class, you can send the homework to me by email (preferred) or by fax. Homework sent by email must be in Microsoft Word, PDF or ASCII text format. Late homework assignments and homework assignments that are in a format that is unreadable will not be accepted, and a failing grade be given for that assignment.
