Java Forums and Discussion Groups

Here are some places you can ask questions about Java-related technologies. Many of the sites have specific subgroups on topics such as servlets, JSP, JDBC, Swing, and so on.

Sun's Java Technology Forums. This site has a large set of in-depth discussion groups on Java technologies. A few of the most popular groups include:
- New to Java Technology.
- General Java Programming.
- Swing.
- Java 2D.
- JDBC (also includes JTA).
- JNDI.
- Signed Applets.
- Servlets. Also see these servlet programming resources.
- JSP (also includes JSTL). Also see these JSP programming resources.

JavaRanch. Although the set of forums is not quite as extensive as on the Sun forum site, there tends to be a knowledgeable group that is willing to answer questions. Some of the most popular forums include:
Java-Related Usenet Newsgroups.. The original Java discussion groups. Links below shown via the Google Usenet interface, but you can also use your favorite news reader to browse the groups directly.
IBM developerWorks Forums. A smaller set of forums, but moderated by experts. Forums include:
- Client-side Java Programming. This large forums covers applets, Swing, general Java programming, and tons of other topics.
- J2EE Pathfinder.
- Java Security.
- Multithreaded Programming.
